Team Director

Axel Merckx, son of cycling legend Eddy Merckx, will debut in the role as team director. Beginning his cycling career in 1993 with Telekom, Axel rode alongside Lance in their early with Motorola before going on to ride with Polti, Mapei, Domo, Lotto, Phonak, and TMobil. Axel won stages at the Tour de L’Avenir, Giro d’Italia, Dauphine Libere, a bronze medal at the Olympic games in Athens , and in 2000 ws Belgian National Road Champion. Axel retired from cycling in 2007 to work with young, up and coming cyclists and help develop them into European-based racers. Riders on the Trek-LIVESTRONG Team will benefit from his knowledge and years of experience in professional road racing.

Axel currently lives in Canada with his wife, Canadian triathlete Jodi Cross and their 2 children.
